The initiative was birthed in 2018 after Kansas City endured several tragic losses when multiple students from a local high school took their lives. After one of these terrible weeks, a group from City Center Church met at the school to walk the grounds and pray.
 

That day God birthed an idea out of Nehemiah 4:9 that says, “But we prayed to our God and guarded the city day and night to protect ourselves.” A vision called The Guardian Initiative was born. Instead of reacting when tragedy strikes, we need to be proactive in prayer to thwart every attack of the enemy against our children. It is our goal to have at least one person praying for each elementary, middle, and high school on a daily basis and also make a commitment on the 1st Saturday of every month to walk the perimeter of their chosen school and pray over the lives of every student & faculty member of that institution.

A weekly Devo will be sent out each Monday morning beginning in August with a specific prayer focus and scripture. These emails are powerful tools you can use to pray for the students/faculty of your chosen school. It is also a way for you to share this prayer movement with your family and friends. Simply forward the
email to anyone the Holy Spirit lays on your heart and encourage them to be a part of Guardians.
